I probably could turn off the password being necessary in the network sharing. I did create an new credential name and password but still didn't seem to work. Used the name of the computer but maybe I used the wrong computer name and should use the same one I am on.
Any NAS that I have seen requires user and password to access to log onto its interface to do administrative maintenance, and a different user and password to access the files. I have not worked with DLNA server, but you may have two levels of access. Trying to make the whole house system totally open may be your problem. If you take the time to secure the entire network with users and passwords, you might work out the kinks, and have a safer network. You have spent 85 hours troubleshooting, but you could have spent a whole lot less time securing your network with users and passwords.
