I have had this issue with sky and still having this issue but not located to bt or this contrey as i know people in the usa that have same issue. I tried having a look at the diagnostics page on the router to see if I could find any SNR information for line attentuation that may point to an unstable line - unfortnatly it looks like the logs no longer record SNR information but did find the stream of logs of Disconnect and Reconnect, this is 1 segment, after the top PPP IPCP line the whole stream repeats itself for the duration it took me to download the file I was downloading.
I cant seem to find a downgraded version of the Firmware to test this theory. Any other way to see how stable my connection is when downloading large files? Its wall mounted, low to the ground in an open hall way - well ventilated and lots of cool air flowing through becuase its next to the front door and tall standing windows.
In order to rule out the Homehub as potentially being the device responsible for your problems, you can connect the Openreach modem directly to the PC and see if the download completes. However, please note that this will stop any other access apart from the PC. Sign In Forum Help. Turn on suggestions. Unfortunately my internet quits randomly until I restart the comp from bit torrents, IE downloads, and even Winamp TV streams. I run an antivirus scan once a week and keep updated. I'm using Norton. I've also done several online virus scans in case Norton got attacked.
I run Adaware regularly as well as Windows updates. I use the Norton firewall and have passed several online security tests. I forget if it's a hub or router. Basically it takes a line from my modem and splits it to two computers. I pay extra to get a second ip for the second computer. Yeah it still stops my internet even when the second comp is off. Sometimes I'll go to sleep watching a winamp stream of Upright Citizens Brigade and then wake up with no net.
IE, winamp, icq, BitComet, etc won't work. The only way I've found to get it back is to restart. Frobozz [H]ard Gawd. Joined Feb 15, Messages 1, This just started happening to me as well. If I kill ABC and wait a moment, things start picking back up again. Now that I think about it I've updated the firmware on my WRT54G fairly recently.
Perhaps I'll try to backrev to what it was. The issue that I was hoping to fix with the update wasn't affected anyway. If it ain't broke enough, try fixing it.
Looks like there are quite a few people over at LinksysInfo that are having the same type of problem with WRT54G routers. This may serve as a decent temporary solution untill my ISP figures out how to unfuck themselves. I'm done! Sunkist Limp Gawd. However, there are a few situations where the issues can be cleared up on the user's end. The following sections contain different solutions that may help fix download termination issues.
Review each section to troubleshoot the download failures you are experiencing. As we mentioned previously, many problems are caused by issues with your Internet service provider. Usually, these issues result in high latency or lag , which in turn cause your download to fail.
One solution is to clear the temporary Internet files under the History section in your browser and try the download again. If you have a broadband connection, and connect to the Internet through a router, the Internet connection may be unstable. Issues with Internet connectivity and the stability of the connection can cause downloads to fail, especially if the Internet connection is interrupted.
When an Internet connection is unstable, it may disconnect and reconnect intermittently.
